Overview
Strathclyde Park Golf Course is a 9-hole, par 36 municipal course measuring 3,113 yards.
Set amongst mature woods and parklands adjoining Strathclyde Country Park, this course occupies a unique position bordered by Hamilton Racecourse on one side and a nature reserve on the other.
Operated by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, it serves both local residents and visitors throughout the year.
The course offers a pleasant mixture of playing challenges, with some holes relatively open while others demand accurate shots to navigate the tree-lined fairways and greens. The parkland setting within the mature woodland creates natural hazards and strategic shot-making requirements. This variety in hole design makes the course popular with golfers of different skill levels, though the layout rewards precision over distance on the tighter, wooded holes.
Facilities include a starters office providing booking services and golf sundries, changing rooms and toilets, plus a short game practice area and putting green. The adjacent Strathclyde Park Family Golf Centre features a 24-bay floodlit driving range open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. Three PGA-approved professional staff, including PGA Professional Peter Kerr, offer private lessons and junior coaching. The course operates as a municipal facility without a clubhouse, bar, or restaurant. Season tickets are available, including a Rover 2 option for play at both Strathclyde Park and Larkhall courses.
The course opens from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Sunday, with hours varying seasonally based on daylight. For bookings and information, contact the course at 01698 429350 or reach Recreation Manager Laura Cleland via the South Lanarkshire Leisure website. Assistance dogs are welcome on the course.
