Overview
Auchterarder Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 69 parkland course located in Perthshire. Measuring 5,800 yards, the course features six challenging par 3 holes and runs directly alongside the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles Hotel, which hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup. The club, founded in 1892, offers golfers a relatively compact but testing layout in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland.
The club's history dates back to 1892, with the original 9-hole course laid out in 1913 by renowned course designer Ben Sayers. This layout remained in play until a major expansion at the end of the 1970s, when the current 18-hole course opened in 1979. The course's six par 3 holes present a distinctive characteristic, making it an unusual test of short iron play compared to typical Scottish parkland courses.
The club's upgraded clubhouse accommodates large golfing groups and features a restaurant run by Chef Mandeep Saini and an upstairs lounge with capacity for 100 guests. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green, pitching green, chipping green, and practice bunker. The pro shop stocks equipment, clothing, and club rentals.
