Anstruther Fish Bar
Anstruther
About
Classic fish and chips on the East Neuk harbour
After a round on Fife’s coastal links, Anstruther is a place to slow down by the harbour. The Fish Bar serves classic fish and chips in a town whose identity was shaped by fishing.
Inside, the Catch of the Day board names the boat that landed the fish. The Fish Bar was also the first fish and chip shop in the world to gain Marine Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification, in 2009.
Choose takeaway for a casual harbour stop or eat in the restaurant. Haddock and chips is the obvious starting point, with other seafood depending on the day’s menu. If you have more time, visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum nearby: it tells the story of the boats, people and work that made Anstruther a major Scottish fishing port.
Great golf around the corner
Pair it with: a round at Crail’s Balcomie or Craighead courses, an East Neuk coastal drive, and the Scottish Fisheries Museum.
