Inveraray Castle

Inveraray Castle is a historic visitor attraction on the shores of Loch Fyne, and the home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. The estate combines castle interiors with gardens and wider grounds, including formal lawns, flowerbeds, parkland and woodland. An official visitor leaflet describes 16 acres of gardens and grounds, including two acres of formal lawns and flowerbeds, alongside 180 hectares of park and woodland.

Highlights include historic rooms and displays relating to the Campbell family and the Dukes of Argyll. Visitors can explore the ground floor, first floor, basement and Old Kitchen, with collections of paintings, artefacts, arms and costumes. The website also provides information on Clan Campbell history and a historical timeline, as well as virtual tours of the first floor, basement and kitchen, and gardens.

Facilities include the Castle Tearoom, Castle Gift Shop and an online shop selling Scottish and Clan Campbell merchandise. The estate also offers walking routes, while linked Argyll Estates facilities include self-catering holiday houses.

For the 2026 season, the castle is open from 26 March to 30 September, Thursday to Monday, 10:00–17:00. From 1 to 26 October, it remains open Thursday to Monday, 10:00–16:00. It is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and advance ticket booking is recommended.
